Exciting last few days:

Friday night, OF COURSE, was the Harry Potter party. It was...interesting. Kerry and I were going to go together, but she wasn't back from Germany until like 9, and we had to go get our numbers in line at 8, so Hannah and I went then. This was the freaky time because it was only the diehards. We got Kerry and my places in line (78 and 79), and picked up some free Harry Potter stuff--a crossword, quiz, word search, sprite (not the drink!) paper doll, cut-out wood elf costume, tatoos, and many other necessities. They also gave out free Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, which I couldn't have, but Hannah did. First she had booger, and she had to have another one to clear the taste out of her mouth and got soap. Finally the third one was some mysterious orange flavor, but it was better. Don't I wish I could have joined in on the fun...not. So we were sitting on the curb outside Skipper's (where the big bash was held), eating our beans and doing our trivia. We had some interesting neighbors, though. They were in their 20s or 30s and wearing capes, but not really Harry Potter kind of robes, just creepy capes. They were smoking, and they were doing the same trivia as us, but they would answer the question and then quote where it came from, word for word. It was getting dark and we were sitting outside Roseburg Valley Mall destroying our lungs, so we decided it was time to pack up.

I met Kerry at her house about 11:30, and we headed over. There were a lot more people there, more normal ones, and a lot more people I knew. We hung out in the giant mob, and she filled me in on everything from Germany. Eventually, it was time to go in. We went in with the second bunch, wove our way around the entire WaldenBooks store, and bought our treasured books. After some cheesy pictures with our newfound loves, we each headed home. I read about ten pages before I fell asleep, not because it wasn't good, but because I'd had no sleep lately. I'm now 150 or so pages into it, and it is AWESOME!!

Anyways, Saturday I spent any free time reading, but that wasn't very much time. My dad decided that it would be fun to spend the afternoon at the "River Festival" at Whistler's Bend. He said that there was going to be six bands there throughout the day, and so he, my mom, and I headed over. When we got there, we decided that we were slightly out of place. It turned out to be an extremely hippy place, but it was really cool. I registered to vote with the Democrat party booth (as independent, not Democrat), which was exciting. My family also learned about Feng Shui (pronounced "fung shwah," not "feeng shoe-we," like we were calling it). You put different stuff in different parts of a room to bring more wealth, knowledge, health, and pretty much any other thing you make up. While visiting that booth we met someone who was looking at how to make the teepee she lives in more...feng shui-like, I suppose. So, this was quite the experience, as I'm sure you can see.

Later that night I went to Kerry's to watch "Seven-Year Itch," an old Marilyn Monroe movie. It was surprisingly good (I usually have a different movie taste than Kerry :) ), although still kind of weird. This one guy just talked to himself the entire time. It was kind of cool.

This morning at church Dennis (my youth group leader) gave the sermon because my pastor was gone. It was awesome. He asked the whole congregation to come sit up around him and in the first few pews. Those of you that know my church know that any change at all is NOT welcome to the 99% of the congregation that's over 70. But he did this, and I think people liked it. They actually had to pay attention.

Well, that's about all I feel like writing about that happened the last few days. Oh, actually, it's kind of cool because my face is starting to un-numb itself. It's all tingly, and kind of hurts a little bit. It reminded my of in "Beloved" when Amy told Sethe that "Anything dead coming back to life hurts." It doesn't really apply perfectly here, it just reminded me of it, and of what an awesome book "Beloved" is. I'd suggest it to everyone. It's really weird and scary and gruesome, but it's a book that I think everyone should read. It's written amazingly, and it teaches you a lot.

Anyways, I have better things to do than keep writing...hmmm...maybe go read. :) You've heard enought about my weekend, so now, all you have to remember is that Harry Potter is AWESOME!

Squeeks. My dad went to this river festival and soaked it up completely. He went with Mr. Sitt. I believe my father has turned into a hippie this summer. Heaven help us.
